1. Overview & Commitment to Privacy
At Zenith Launcher, we believe your smartphone's home screen should be a private, distraction-free sanctuary. We operate under a strict on-device first, zero-tracking architecture.
- Zero Remote Data Collection: We do not collect, store, sell, or monetize your personal information on any remote server.
- Zero Advertising Trackers: No third-party ad networks, telemetry trackers, or profiling SDKs exist within the application.
- Zero Cloud Accounts Required: Zenith Launcher is fully functional offline and does not require an account, email address, or registration.
2. Notification Listener Service Disclosure (BIND_NOTIFICATION_LISTENER_SERVICE)
Zenith Launcher offers an optional Notification Listener Service (LauncherNotificationService) designed to give users streamlined, distraction-free notification management directly from their home screen.
What Information Is Accessed
When you explicitly grant notification access in Android Settings, the application temporarily observes:
- The posting application's package name and icon (to show app notification badges).
- Notification title, preview text, and timestamp.
- Available notification action buttons (such as "Mark as Read" or "Reply").
Purpose & User Benefits
- Icon Badges: Displays subtle notification counters on drawer and quickbar app icons.
- Notification Triage & Zen Shade: Displays notifications in a clean, categorized bottom sheet for quick dismissal without pull-down clutter.
- Direct Inline Quick Reply: Allows you to answer messages directly via Android's native
RemoteInputwithout switching apps.
Notification data is processed exclusively in volatile local device memory (RAM).
- Notification texts and previews are NEVER transmitted over the internet to any server.
- Notification content is NEVER saved to cloud storage or permanent external databases.
- Notification content is NEVER shared with third parties or advertisers.
- Notification content is NEVER fed into external AI models (including Gemini).
- When you dismiss or clear a notification, its temporary in-memory reference is immediately erased.
How to Revoke Notification Access
This feature is entirely optional. You can enable or disable Notification Access at any time:
- Open your device Settings.
- Navigate to Apps → Special app access (or Device & app notifications).
- Select Zenith Launcher and toggle access off.
3. Device Permissions & Contextual Usage
Zenith Launcher requests runtime permissions solely to provide contextual home screen features:
3.1 Installed Applications (QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES)
Essential for home screen launchers to display, categorize, and launch installed applications in the app drawer. Processed 100% on-device in local memory.
3.2 Contacts (READ_CONTACTS) — Optional & Contextual
Enables 1-tap call and message actions within the Universal Search bar. Contact queries are executed on-device in local memory only during an active search. Contacts are never uploaded or synced to external servers.
3.3 Calendar Events (READ_CALENDAR, WRITE_CALENDAR) — Optional
Powers the agenda widget, daily briefing glance, and calendar bottom sheet using Android's native on-device Calendar Provider.
3.4 Location (ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION) — Optional
Provides real-time local weather forecasts, precipitation outlooks, and Air Quality Index (AQI). Approximate coordinates are sent securely over HTTPS to weather providers (e.g. Open-Meteo). Location is never tied to any user identity.
3.5 Physical Activity (ACTIVITY_RECOGNITION) — Optional
Reads step counts from your device's built-in step sensor for the daily fitness glance widget. Steps are stored strictly on-device in local preferences.
3.6 Camera (CAMERA) — Optional
Powers the offline OCR card scanner in the Offline Wallet Vault. Camera frames are processed on-device in real-time by ML Kit and immediately discarded. No photos or video frames are saved or transmitted.
3.7 Biometrics & Fingerprint (USE_BIOMETRIC, USE_FINGERPRINT) — Optional
Secures the Offline Wallet Vault and locked settings. Authentication is delegated directly to Android's hardware Keymaster. Zenith never sees or stores biometric data.
4. Local Storage & Hardware-Backed Encryption
All sensitive items stored in the Offline Wallet Vault (such as card numbers and private notes) are encrypted using hardware-backed AES-256-GCM encryption via EncryptedSharedPreferences, with keys held in the Android Keystore.
5. Third-Party Services & Secure Network Requests
Zenith Launcher only initiates network requests when you actively use features requiring external data. All network calls utilize TLS/HTTPS:
| Provider | Feature | Data Transmitted |
|---|---|---|
| Open-Meteo | Weather & Air Quality | Approximate coordinates only |
| RainViewer | Doppler radar tiles | Tile map coordinates |
| Google Gemini API | AI Study Tutor / Assistant | Only the user's explicitly submitted prompt text |
| Radio Browser | Streaming radio stations | Public streaming audio stream requests |
| Market Index APIs | Market ticker widget | Public stock / index ticker symbol requests |
6. Children's Privacy
Zenith Launcher does not collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The application is completely ad-free and contains no user profiling mechanisms.
7. Data Retention & Full Deletion
Because Zenith Launcher stores all personal data locally:
- Full Deletion: You can completely erase all data at any time via Android Settings → Apps → Zenith Launcher → Storage → Clear Data, or by uninstalling the application.
- Encrypted Backups: You can export and restore settings at will via encrypted local JSON files.
8. Google Play Data Safety Summary
- Data Collected: None (No personal data collected or stored off-device).
- Data Shared: None (No personal data shared with third parties).
- Security: All external API requests use modern encrypted HTTPS/TLS. Local vault data uses AES-256-GCM.
- Data Deletion Request: Fully supported on-device at any time.
